Vitalik Buterin Critique about the Metaverse
The Ethereum creator while reacting to a post by Dean Eigenmann explained that the “Metaverse” will happen but he doesn’t think the “attempts” of these corporations are going anywhere.
Vitalik said that anything Facebook is creating will “misfire” because his critique is deeper than “Metaverse Wikipedia will beat Metaverse Encyclopedia Britannica.”
“My critique is deeper than “Metaverse Wikipedia will beat Metaverse Encyclopedia Britannica”. It’s that we don’t really know the definition of the “metaverse” yet, it’s far too early to know what people actually want. So anything Facebook creates now will misfire”, He said.
Mark Zuckerberg, CEO, and Founder of Meta believe that the metaverse over the years will be the future and he hopes to play an important role in building it.
“This is obviously a very expensive undertaking over the next several years, but as the metaverse becomes more important in every part of how we live—from our social platforms and entertainment, to work and education and commerce—I’m confident we’re going to be glad that we played an important role in building this. The next milestones to look out for are the continued expansion of horizon, our social metaverse platform, and continued improvement of our avatars platform”, Mark said.
Vitalik’s Critiques is coming days after Meta reported a fall in revenue for the last quarter.
Metaverse is a digital universe where people can work, play games, and do other things through virtual, Augmented, and mixed reality. Many corporate companies have begun to explore possibilities to ensure its realization. Companies like Meta, Sony Interactive Entertainment, Google, Accenture, Unity, Penumbra Microsoft, and Vive have all made a move for the Metaverse.
This is not the first time Viatalik is criticizing corporate bodies and individuals. Last month, he criticized Bitcoin maximalists and called Microstrategy’s Micheal Saylor a clown.
