Mitsubishi Invests in South African Company
Mitsubishi Electric Corporation on Monday announced that its wholly owned subsidiary Mitsubishi Electric Hydronics & IT Cooling Systems S.p.A. (MEHITS), headquartered in Bassano, Italian Republic, has bought a stake in Intramech Pty Ltd., a Republic of South Africa company specializing in sales and services for applied HVAC* and IT cooling systems.
According to the report, the two companies will combine their products and skills to offer one-stop services, including design-related technical support, sales, installation, operation, and maintenance, across southern Africa.
The company in a statement said that “Data center construction is increasing worldwide, including in Africa, leading to a growing demand for IT cooling. Operators of data centers are increasingly demanding comprehensive services for cooling equipment, including installation, operation and maintenance.”

The new collaboration will aid the company in strengthening its presence in southern Africa to deliver more comprehensive customer support and better meet the demand for applied HVAC and IT cooling system solutions, Mitsubishi said.
Mitsubishi Electric Joins Forces with Inria to Advance AI Safety and Transparency
On Sept 18, 2025, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation and Inria, France’s National Institute for Research in Digital Science and Technology (Institut national de recherche en sciences et technologies du numérique), announced that they have launched a joint research project titled “Formal Reasoning applied to AI for Methodological Engineering” (FRAIME) with the goal of realizing trustworthy AI systems.
This project will be one part of Inria’s DÉFI, a large-scale industry-academia partnership program, to achieve trustworthy AI systems and establish next-generation AI technology by integrating Formal Methods** technologies, a mathematical approach, with AI technologies.
The company said that it has been working together with Inria through joint research on advanced verification technologies utilizing formal methods since 2015.
Mitusubishi explained that Inria is France’s national institute for research in digital science and technology and since January 2024 has been responsible for the Agence de programmes dans le numérique (Digital Programs Agency), which aims to strengthen the collective dynamics of higher education and research. Its DNA is based on world-class research, technological innovation, and entrepreneurial risk. Within 220 project teams, most of which are shared with major research universities, more than 3,800 scientists are exploring new avenues, often in interdisciplinary collaboration with industrial partners, to meet ambitious challenges.
The Roles of Each Company in the Project
Mitsubishi Electric R&D Centre Europe will provide domain knowledge from a social implementation perspective and develop technologies based on industrial application experience, and Inria will provide cutting-edge academic knowledge of formal methods and AI and develop technologies that pursue novelty and originality, the report stated.
